Display Driver Uninstaller http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
When u open up the program it will ask you to go into safe mode, just click continue or okay, it will go to safemode all by itself. Then you have an option "Clean and Restart". Press that and when u boot up again reinstall drivers from nVidia's site.

DUDE YOU FUCKING DID IT OMG I'M SO HAPPY THANK YOU SO MUCH

Was your GPU reporting a 500MHz clock speed while the benchmark was running or was that after it had completed? All AMD & Nvidia graphics cards use an adaptive power model that drastically drops clock speed to save power when the GPU is not in use or under very light load.

It was whilst it was benchmarking hence the ridiculously low drop in frames, its been fixed now thankfully just had to reinstall all of the drivers

Ok, just was wondering cause I was involved in a similar thread over at OCN where the person thought their GPU was messed up because it downclocked from adaptive power settings. Glad to hear you got it fixed, game on bud!
