Hi everyone. My friend what's to make his first PC build and he has a budget of £1k. He doesn't need any peripherals or OS. He already bought a i5 6600k.

He intends to do his uni work and play games such as CS:GO and Arma. If you need anymore, info please ask away.

Is the budget including the i5 6600K? Or is it for the rest of the build?

This is assuming that the i5 is not included within the budget:

I think it's including the CPU in the budget.

Since he's playing nothing too intensive, I reckon the R9 390 will be a good choice. I could fit a 980Ti in that budget but that means sacrificing an SSD and I doubt he'll need all that power.
