Help me decide!

Ok,

 

So I game, mostly FPS (Insurgency and Arma/Squad) heavy sessions 4-6 hours a time. My eyes suffer, particularly at long range in Arma/Squad etc.

 

I am about to embark on my new build, and would like your experience of the following formats, I'm a performance junky (just not very good.....) so need all the help I can get, and would like for my eyes to not suffer as much.

 

Option A

27inch TN LED 1080 at 120FPS (ok not Arma/Squad re server side limitations)

 

Option B

27inch TN LED 1440 at 60FPS

 

Which would you say is superior, and why? (The FPS is fixed at that level to avoid big drops and peaks etc).

 

I can't justify both the 1440 and 120FPS right now so need to decide!

I'd say 1440p if you do a lot of stuff that isn't gaming. If you mainly just game then 1080p@120fps (assuming your system can drive it).

Just gaming, if i go that way then it's better GPU, if I go the other way, better display.

Arma is also a bitch on the CPU, so you'd also have to make sure your cpu could handle higher fps. 

 

Honestly, it's a tough call to make. If you think that a smoother image will solve your eye problem (and if you can run it) then I'd definitely go for the 144hz monitor. If not, maybe IPS would be a better choice -- I personally find an IPS monitor more comfortable to look at due to better colors (which probably results in less eye straining settings)....

Yes i have no experience of IPS Displays, so I guess my question is now -

 

Option 1

27 IPS display at 1080

 

or 

 

Option 2

27 TN display at 1440

 

Purely from an eye strain and more accuracy at long range in Arma perspective!

I wish I could give you an answer, but It really comes down to you. I just find that on TN panels I tend to raise the brightness to increase contrast (which can cause eye strain, but then again, increasing the smoothness with a higher framerate can also help...)

or as my wife says maybe game 2-3 hours at a time and get a life? LOL

 

Appreciate the input, i'll try get hold of an IPS display and check it out and go from there.
