The low bench speed combined with the errors from the diagnostic tools all point to having some problems with the drive and I would recommend replacing it. Is the drive still under warranty? I would recommend contacting our live support and applying for a RMA procedure. Here's a link to it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=O1kag2

Feel free to ask if you happen to have any questions!

Kinda an older drive in a friends laptop. Shouldn't current pending secotors be turned into reallocated ones? Why are there 0 reallocated sectors? I really don't understand S.M.A.R.T. :/

So this drive is pretty much pooched then?

Edit: Friend wanted a new windows install so needless to say I have already backed up all important data.

Hey there Rough Draft,

Here's a good description of the S.M.A.R.T. that I really like and find useful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.

According to this screenshot the drive has worked only 175 hours and the rest of the drive is OK. I'd download and run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and see if the drive passes the quick and the extended tests. If it passes them it should be safe to use. Here's a link to the tool: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ssGvNu

As for the Pending sectors, they should be counted as reallocated when the system gets the data and moves it to the reserved sectors and lists these as bad or unreadable ones. :)

You are most welcome!
WD Blue is a good everyday drive that is good for basic computer usage and can handle pretty much any regular workload. If you have questions regarding it feel free to ask. :)
