Server Questions

Greetings,

So I have my server up and running, I have UNraid on it and it says it will take 20 hours to setup (for parody sync hoping this is right).  I am using 3 250GB (I have more but on free trial) HDD's atm.  I am using dual Xeon X5460's and 16GB of DDR2 ECC memory.  But I have a few questions.

Do I need to leave both my PC (accessing the GUI) on and the server during the parody sync?

Can I load steam and other games and access steam on 2 different PC's (different users/logins) at the same time?

If your unraid build is doing all the work, then only it needs to be on. Disconnecting from the gui will not halt anything.

Also, your last question, no. You can only play one game at a time on one steam account. You cannot, for example, play 2 instances of csgo on the same account on 2 different machines.

My native language is C++

As long as you have 2 different accounts I'm pretty sure you can. I think you'll need 2 different installs of Steam though and not able to share the networked folder if that's what you're asking.

Steam games won't launch off the server sadly.

You can map a network share to a drive letter, and mount that drive on your local machine then add it to your list of SteamApps folders.

The problem is, that if you want multiple peeople to be able to use it, theyre going to need their own configs for a lot of it....it would be a nightmare trying to use a single install in this way for clients.

For servers you basically use SteamCMD to keep a main install in sync, and then each individual server just symlinks all the static files to that folder - and each instance has its own config files.
