Hi,

recently I have decided to change my GPU from Asus GTX 670 4GB to EVGA gtx 980 ti classified. Sadly the new card had a lot of artefacts and after 5 minutes of gaming died. I returned card and purashed another (980 ti class) one from diffrent shop. Next card didn't even displayed video, so I let the local (good) shop with pc parts change PSU to 700W bequiet straight power 10, they were trying to make the card work but nothing happened. Card was dead. I tried to return second card but the service says that the card works on their PC... I don't know what to do now. The service says that they can give me only 70% of cash back, or send it back to me.

Card that im using now works properly for 2 years and even OCs like mad.

video of first card: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrwZeBxBK8g
Specs:
i7-3770k 4.6 GHz 1.3v
AsRock z77 extreme 4
Asus GTX 670 4GB
Adata gaming 2x4 gb and 2gb kingston hyper x
BeQuiet 630W Pure power L8  http://www.bequiet.com/en/powersupply/250
Gladus X80 pure black (6 fans at medium spead)

WD Blue 1TB

Plextor M6S 256GB

I know my PSU is a little small for gtx 980 ti but the card should work even on 600w, and overclock aswell)

I used DDU before instalations of new cards.

You mentioned that the old card is overclocked. Did you remove the OC before swapping the cards?

I'm using Asus GPU Tweak, so every time i was just picking profile that i wanted. I uninstalled the program before GPU change.

Is your computer actually loading properly (i.e. HDD activity, powered peripherals etc) with the 980Ti plugged in?

You typically need to look at all the variables to narrow it down. If your 670 works fine, it's highly unlikely to be a fault with the PCI-E slot or a BIOS issue. If the PSU has been swapped when you tested the 2nd card, then that should rule out a power issue, apart from any possible variations with the power connections themselves. Does the 670 use dual PCI-E power cables same as the 980Ti?

On a slightly different note, I've seen a few instances of the output being blank on some 900 series cards that can be fixed by power cycling them. Disconnect all display cables from the GPU, and unplug the monitors from the power socked. Unplug your PC as well, then leave everything off for a few minutes. Press the power button a few times to discharge any residual electricity. Re-connect the power to the PC & monitors the reconnect the DVI/HDMI/whatever cables. Any difference?

Also, if your retailer has stated that the cards works for them but you know it doesn't for you, then you should be within your rights to have the card test by EVGA returns dept (it's not clear from your post who tested the card). But, it's always worth doing as much troubleshooting as possible first...

I do not have 980Ti, it's in retailer's service and I don't know what to do because they say that the card works how it should. Now, I can get it back, or lose 30% (which is much in my country) of cash in refund.

Keyboard, power button lights were showing and case fans spinig.

670 uses 2x6pin from 1 cable in PSU. PSU has 2 cables 1x6pin and 1x6pin+2pin each. I tried using 2x6pin to 8pin adapters but it didn't work.

Like I said I don't have the card now so I can't try power cycling.

When i tried making the card work after few resets of computer, card's fans started to spin at 100% (Im guessing (it was realy loud) for few seconds and then stopped.

There's no way I would accept a 70% refund on something I had purchased recently. Assuming you bought the item from new and have a valid warranty, you're entitled to take the card back home for further testing, with the warranty remain valid for however long it may be (1-3 years) should you need to pursue the issue further.

Either the card is faulty and the retailer is being a dick, or there's a genuine issue between the card and the rest of your PC, which may still be discovered with a bit of patience. Tough call though, troubleshooting can sometimes be a pain up the ass.

First off, I would take the card back. I really think the problem is with your system. More than likely the PSU or Motherboard. I know you had a shop try another PSU but are you sure it was hooked up right? Does the system boot or even POST? EVGA has great customer support, you should be able to reach out to them regarding support but I would investigate your system more. As @Asses_Of_Fire said, it is highly unlikely that you got 2 bad cards in a row.
