So i go into work like normal, walking through the parking lot. Regular work day blah blah its 11pm now and im walking to my car and on the ground near my car i find this S 3 galaxy note. as a security guard it goes to lost and found, 6 months down the road still in there. Policy it gets thrown out but i see some potential in it. Take it home take it apart to find no water damage as i assumed since the day i found it was a dry dry day of summer. Looking over the screen it looks like maybe it was thrown down or maybe run over possibly. I know the screen and glass is a must replace. But what are some ways to find out what on this phones motherboard is broken. try to charge with my s4s charger with no luck. if someone could help me with some advice on testing electrical parts it would be very much appreciated. i'm hoping i can buy a junked out other one and swap whats working in that one with this one to have one working phone. I know its alot of hassle then what its worth to most but i like a challenge and i like giving new life to a thrown away phone. My own phone booted up for the last time so i think im ready to give it a try. its model is the SM-N9005. i will post pictures later of its condition when i can get my hands on a friends phone.

Its a Galaxy Note 3 or a Galaxy S3? There is no such thing as a S3 Galaxy Note.

My Rig: 2x Xeon x5690 @ 3.45Ghz 24GB DDR3 EEC RAM Asus STRIX GeForce GTX 970 SuperMicro X8DT3 Windows Server 2008 R2

Here's a little TL;DR of what you need to know about the GTX 970 and R9 390

R9 390 works better in VRAM-bound scenarios and compute bound scenarios and is best paired with higher end processors

GTX 970 works better in CPU-bound scenarios and tessellation bound scenarios and is best paired with lower end processors
