PCI E cable for LED strips?

do you guys think is good idea to attach a LED strip to PCI E cables isntead of traditional MOLEX connections?

Theoretically yes it would work since all you would need is a 12V and ground line which PCI-E has but it would just be an issue if you needed that PCI-E connector later on down the line.

Yeah, it would work, but there are so many other wires on a PCI E cable that it's just better to use molex.

As long as you know how many pins you need to use and which ones to use, sure. I'm not sure why you would do that though? SATA power seems like a much cleaner way to do it, especially since you can have a longer cable that you can cable manage much easier. Additionally, MOLEX poewr is directly from the power supply so if you cut open a molex connecter, you can trace which pins on the MOLEX side go to which pins on the power supply. You can then plug in another pcie cable and just remember which pins to plug it in to. Make sure you dont screw that up because you may screw it up and kill your psu. Again, SATA power is probably the cleanest option and easiest to cable manage.
