I've currently got a i5 build I'll place the exact specs in PC Part picker wondering which parts I should upgrade first as I render a lot.

That's the computer I've picked...

if you render videos a lot I would recommend you get an i7.

Which i7 because I know the broadwell one is compatible ?

Either the 6700k or 4790k if you get the 6700k you will have to get a different mobo and ddr4 ram

Personally I ain't interested in the 6700K as the ASIC quality as is so low, currently the yields ain't there..

So I'll go 4790K

Make sure you post a topic when you build the PC we would love to see it. :D

Wait, the thing is already an i5. The i7 is pretty much the same with hyperthreading, no? That's like $300 for a 30% performance increase. Maybe a Xeon on the same socket would be more cost effective? Or an x99 chip with more cores would work too.

Followup idea, build an 8350 rig for a bit more than the price of an i7 and you can work on your i5 and i7. That one is less of a good idea, but hey.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

yeah ive been looking at either getting 4790k or 5820k but 5820k is about $200 higher including mobo so it might not be worth it

The X99 platform I guess has more value to the upgrades later down the line a 10 core broadwell-e CPU rumor..
