Hello ! So , I had to buy a new PSU , and i've looked at the "Seasonic Platinum SS-1200XP3". My preferred website sells a " Seasonic Platinum SS-1200XP" , which is weird. The "XP" is an older variant , and it's discontinued on seasonic website , but it only goes up to 1000W , not 1200W. Might it be a typo , or there actually exists an SS-1200XP ?

I know that. But i want to know if this is either the xp3 variant or it actually is xp simple ?

A quick google search did bring up some sites with the SS-1200XP, but nothing that official. What's your preferred website?

It's not at all uncommon for a region specific variant to exist with no mention of it on the OEM, or rebranders website. While it may be a new revision, it's likely just a variant that had to me made due to local regulations.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the last time I saw something like this it was Romanian too.

The original XP series only scale from 860 to 1000w, in which was a multi-rail design labeled as a single rail unit (this is true for the 1050XM / 1250XM as well).

XP2 scale from 660-860w, while the XP3 are 1050/1250 models. Then there's a the Snow Silent, which are a mixed of XP3 and refreshed XP2S.

The reason why your e-tailer may have marked it as SS-1200XP without the 3 is probably because it's an exponent and is easily missed: SS-1200XP3.

Thanks for the well-documented response , but , after checking the specific website i ordered it from ,they also have the "xp3" . Difference , the xp3 is roughly 310$ , while the one i bought is 375$

Edit:Only single difference in the specs which i could find between those two ( so they might after all be two different variants , so it could be a romania-specific one as @MourningSouls suggested is less protections :

OPP, OVP, UVP, SCP, OCP, OTP - for the xp3

SCP, OVP, OPP, UVP  - for the more expensive xp

Other than that , everything is identical , from ports to dimensions ( although , the picture they provided is from the 1000W xp , and it only shows 6 pci-e slots instead of 10 , probably just a mistake )

Buying from PCGarage.ro? This wouldn't also be the first time an e-tailer marked up the XP3 as XP. This South African store had also did it.

http://www.comx-computers.co.za/SS-1200XP-SeaSonic-Platinum-1200-1200W-80-PLUS-Platinum-Buy-p-107866.php

On the product code and product listing, it is marked as "SS-1200XPspacer", while the product model is "Platinum-1200(SS-1200XP3)", with the incorrect product image of the XP housing.

Not to mentioned, since the original XP was an multi-rail unit, it had four OCP (Over Current Protection). Having it not list the OCP, as well as the OTP (Over Temperature Protection) is a bit inconsistent.

Of course, to verified, you could also check the label of the power supply, or take a direct picture of the exhaust (the side with the power switch) to compare the internal of the XP and XP3.
