So my friend is trying to build a budget pc and the last part he needs to buy is a psu.  He's trying to not spend any more than 100 cad on a psu.  Here's the list:

Case: Corsair Carbide quiet 400c 130$

CPU: AMD FX 8350 Proces. 250$

PowSup:
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-78lmt 85$
Ram: HyperX 2x4 Ram 60$
GPU: EVGA geforce 750ti 160$
HD: Western Digital 1TB HDD 70$
Fans: Corsair Air SP120 Twin Pack 40$

How many watts in a psu would you recommend and please link me one :) thanks.

I'd recommend saving money by getting a CPU that has better IPC (read i3 4170) and a Seasonic S12

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I like the white text, goes nicely with the WHITE BACKGROUND :)

The Corsair fans are also trash and overpriced for what they are, no offense

Honestly, why downgrade to an i3.

To OP: fix yer formattin' :^

It's not a downgrade when it has better IPC, an upgrade path, will be better for gaming and will save him money initially and on his power bill.

And here we go about all these arguments. Objectively, only one of these is true and this is about IPC. Everything else is extremely subjective, especially if we account motherboard costs if OP gets an i7 down the line.

He could get a locked i7...? It definitely has a greater upgrade path for CPUs.

It would save him money now with a cheaper CPU+mobo combo price and the i3 consumes less than half the amount of power as an 8350. I don't see why, when he has a 750ti which is more likely to become a bottleneck in games, that he would get the 8350.

I still don't think i3s are feasible in this day and age for gaming *cough* Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I'm not saying he shouldn't go Intel, I'm just saying he should go for an i5 because i3s are aging very poorly.

My i3 runs every one of the games I've played on it no problem, with the bottleneck being my GPU (7770GHz). It played GTA no problems when paired with a 290.

Well, with a 7770 you're hitting GPU limits easily.

Well with a 290 I had no struggles, not even 52.

How many watts in a psu would you recommend

Some high quality units:

Seasonic S12II 430W

FSP Aurum S 400W

Enermax Revolution X't 430W

Etc.

Your friend needs ~300W and he has to consider the upgradeability versus quality if he wants bigger one. The more wattage you pick, the worse your unit will be (if we keep selecting 100 cad units ofc). EVGA 500B is a balanced choice for example.
