Could be a (weak) electro magnetic field coming from your pc (fans in the pc could generate it), and when you have the pc closed, the field gets blocked off.

Main gaming pc: Lian-Li Lancool II Mesh Performance - Ryzen 5 5600X - MSI GTX1080Ti Armor - AMD Wraith Spire RGB - ASUS TUF Gaming B550 Plus - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x8GB 3200MHz - 500GB M.2 (and a few other drives)

Gaming laptop: ASUS GL552VW: i7 6700HQ - GTX960M 2GB - 8GB DDR4 2166Mhz RAM - 1TB 7200RPM HDD

This is known as "Static" many things can cause it, like have a fans near or HDD. Even having a phone near it will cause this. I had this problem on one of my old machines and i just used the surround speak ports for it to work (Used the front panel for tidiness)

Does the same thing occur on your phone or other devices? It shouldn't so most likely your audio source has some electromagnetic sound distortion

idk if that would help mainly because my headset uses usb, although i can use the hyperX with audio jack
