How should I text

So if i text somone, whats a few good ways to end a text. i usually use i got to do something, ill text you later. But thats going to be bad if i keep using it on the same person.

Also, if I do end the text, ie

 

me: i gtg, cya

other person: bye.

 

is it proper for me to add a bye after that person, or leave it be?

I'd say if they say bye or some for of that, i.e, "g2g, ttyl" e.t.c, that the conversation is dead and you don't need to send another text, and if you do then it's no big deal.

 

Also, if you need to go for whatever reason, like what you're doing in person takes precedent over texting someone, just say "Hey I have to go, can we pick this up later?" or "Hey this is cool, but I have this thing to do. We'll talk later". Otherwise, just letting it die, like "last reply: 4 hours ago", is perfectly fine too, I think.

Just say gtg. If they say bye then you don't need to respond.
