AMD 8990?

So this popped up on my twitter feed and was intrigued. It claims that there new systems are going to be using the new 8990 gpu! are there any rumors for release dates etc because i didn't even know about this!

It's a rebranded 7990 all 8000 series cards are oems of the 7000 series cards and are exactly the same the 9000 series are the new amd line of gpus and are coming out around end of September to early October

Rebranded 7990. AMD skipped 8xxx as a new architecture.

we've been over this so many times, it's a rebranding of the 7xxx series, for OEM companies such as alienware etc

Its great that Alienware made use of this series in order to attract people thinking that its the new series of gpus and making them buy it but its actually a rebrand of the 7000 series.
