New site is slow

MeltingPoint

I'm not visiting as often anymore after the site upgrade. Things have been loading slow. This especially affects me and maybe others with slow connections. There are even times when just quoting or editing a post takes a long time to actually get anything done.

Well, what is your  connection? DSL? Depending on your connection and provider, it could be just that, loading times. There are a lot more objects to load this time around.

I agree to a point. Editing can take a long time to just load up what you previously put. So long that sometimes I just refresh the page and try again.

Yep, it randomly slows down. I feel like every 5-7 links I click experience slow down. Most of the time it's good, but sometimes there's just one click that takes longer than the others. I expected things like this with the upgrade though.

Perhaps this always happened and I never noticed because I feel the site should be the same in this area if they didn't change servers.

It's not about internet connection as far as I can tell. It seems to be more about the site being a heavy work load - either on client-side, server-side or both. 120/120 fiber connection here and the ping times to the site aren't much different than to Google, so no extreme latency. And the content on the site doesn't appear to be that much heavier (in theory) than many other sites, so it doesn't appear to be a bandwidth issue (at least not on client-side)

It's a little slow on my laptop. It's very, very slow on my phone. Internet connection is the same. The desktop site is probably heavier than mobile for the client, but the mobile site ends up being more taxing, so the processing-to-performance ratio requirement seems off for the mobile site.

I don't know a lot about web development but it seems like there is a problem or bottleneck somewhere. The load/response times are worse than an image and flash heavy site so it makes no sense for it to be so sluggish on all platforms.
