so i recently had replace a 700w psu that the 12v had died on and replace it with a 500w cheapo psu.

ive noticed that sometimes randomly with no paticular trigger the PC will hang for long periods and the little light under the power button on my corsair 650d case is solidly on instead of flashing. Ive found if i unplug my secondary HDD then restart it seems to be fine. But then sometimes with that drive plugged in it works normally too. This usually happens when first turning PC but has happened a couple of time after ive been using it for a while. I was thinking it might be due to the psu not being able to deliver enough wattage since it cheap but then questioned this when I saw the light on solidly.

So what are your thoughts is the HDD or is the PSU a little too weak? Ive used a power calculator and I need 387 watts based on

If it's a super cheap psu, chances are your components are getting fluctuating power.

Replace the psu ASAP
