First Build

MrEman38

So I'm looking at building my first gaming rig. Since I'm new to this figured I'd post my parts and get some advice from people who are more experienced at this than I am.

Case: fractal design define S (windowed)

Cpu: core i7-6700k

motherboard: msi  gaming z170a gaming m5

power suppy: evga 750 g2 80+ gold (already own)

cpu cooler: bequiet dark rock pro 3 (already own)

storage: Samsung 950 pro m.2 512GB

graphics card: MSI GeForce gtx 980ti gaming 6GB or gigabyte g1 gtx 980ti

memory: looking for suggestions for a set of 2 8gb low profile sticks since my cpu cooler is so large.

I'm building a rig that is really more than I need but it's kinda future proofing even though there is no such thing. But this build will allow for future expansion if I go that route or overclocking. Any advice will be appreciated and thank you in advance for the help.

I would make a list in PC part picker this way we can see what it is you plan to buy

You know how it is, the cow goes "moo", the dog goes "woof" and the gamer goes "The PvP is unbalanced."

This looks about right, you will be happy with this, it will do very well for gaming and most other things too.

-threw in a 1TB drive, I dont think 512GB will be very good for all that long on its own.

-LPX RAM is pretty low profile, I think it will be just fine, there are red and black sticks available, I thought the red would look cooler with the M5

solid build! get some corsair lpx ram(low profile good stuff, luke used it for the bomb build), but make sure it is compatible your mobo, someone else on the forum is having compatibilty issues t that ram and z170

1. Are you video editing?

2. What is your max budget?

I'm not doing any video editing and max budget is $2000. Prefer to try and keep it under that though.

I've thought about a black and white build but would stay in the Define S case and would probably go with the gigabyte card I listed. I'm reading the black and white msi card runs kinda hot, witch makes for a loud card. I'm not building a totally silent rig but would like it to mostly quiet. I could go with the define S without the window, to help with any noise, but hey gotta show off the bling bling.

You won't need an i7 if you are not video editing / rendering. I will put together a $1800 build for you. Also, the define s isn't that much quieter than s340 or the h440 but it is your own choice on the case.
