Beyond what Gachr said, I wouldn't worry. You can look into setting up a local firewall and AppArmor which provides 'boundaries' so applications can't do things they are not allowed to do. However, I've been using Linux for 5 years and I've never had a reason to 'enhance' security beyond what you get out of the box.

Unless you go out trying to get a virus or whatnot, you don't need to worry about it. Linux is a very secure OS straight out of the box. You can go into your computer settings to turn off privacy invasive things like the Amazon options etc etc. If you want to update your system, open the Dash and search "update". Click the first result and a box will come up asking for a password. Input your password and start the update. Sometimes you need to restart, others there is no need to.
