1. Budget & Location

$1,200 budget. Located in Australia.

2. Aim

The plan is to upgrade my mother from her current laptop to a desktop pc, i also wanted to practice building a pc before i start building my own dream pc.

3. Monitors

Haven't selected a monitor yet, ideally 1080p

4. Peripherals

How do people go about getting windows these days? Just buy a later version of windows and upgrade?

How does this look?

Is that really necessary? Is she really going to be doing more than browsing the internet and using microsoft office? If so, then go ahead, if not, then that's overkill.

You should also get a 350W PSU, way cheaper than a 600W.

As for windows, there were some people speaking of getting cheap keys off of a website like G2A or something, but for windows ofc.

I personally have an image file on a USB and never enter a key, just find a fake off of the internet and it is sorted.

Edit: Monitor - Dell Ultrasharp U2414H is pretty decent (great colour, 1080p).
