Someone ever heard about this? I'm interested, I have a 560, many people have said that worked 560+460, etc...

Well, I just think that should be worth post here, if really works, maybe you guys could even make a video about this tool...

This isn't the first time someone has cracked sli to work in ways nvidia doesn't approve of.

it isn't unheard of, there have been ways to sli/crossfire on things nvidia doesn't support. Like the older nvidia chipsets didn't support crossfire, but you were capable of doing it with a few 'hacks'. I simply said, Nvidia does not support it. If you do it you run the risk of bricking something or seriously messing something up, and in general is a horrible idea to do.

a 290x 8gb can crossfire with a 4gb card. A 79070 can crossfire with a 280x. Coolers never mattered much anyways, unless you get an asus card that has extra height around the crossfire fingers. But that is old news now.

While benefits will be marginal at best this is more an exercise in can we do it rather than should we.. Like Linus 1 slot titan mod.. Bet that isn't supported by nvidia either.

I didn't say the original statement that you can sli different cards through unsupported matters was incorrect. I said that if he would have said that you can crossfire different cards then he would be correct. I didn't mention that he was incorrect.

I think that could be worth for people who already have this cards or can get on extra card for cheap prices. Remember, is almost always better experience buying brand new hardware, but not every can buy it, but like to gaming and have some skills to put things working with some tinkering here and there... Look at the video that Linus made some time ago about that server motherboard with xeon processors for gamming, it's almost the same type of tinkering.. It's also a very cool thing knowing that Nivdia cards can work like this with just software changes...

I agree with you that it working for old hardware is fun and have a rig with two random cards would be great and also a talking point etc.

I don't believe a video could be made from it, and I dread to think what the compatibility issues are like. Being an SLI user myself I run into problems atleast once a week!
