Windows 10 screen resolution issue

Hi. I've been victimized by Microsoft's "update now or never" push and updated to Windows 10.

I've been coming back to my computer to see that half of my icons disappeared and that when I try to drag select the entire screen it makes an invisible border as if the screen resolution has been changed. I will include an image below

In this picture I dragged my mouse all the way to the bottom right, but the selection gets cut off in the middle (I think the resolution of the invisible boundary is 1920x1080).

Does anyone know how to fix this? It's been making me regret switching to Windows 10 and it's pissing me off

Go to Settings > System > Display > Scroll Down and click "Advanced display settings" > Change your resolution to something like 1280x720 and apply, then change back to the Native resolution of your monitor and apply > Reboot.

Thanks for the reply. I know how to fix it temporarily. In fact, it's not as elaborate as your method is. You simply have to right click the desktop and clicked advanced settings and change the resolution selector to something else and then back to 1440p and hit apply. Do you know by any chance how to prevent this issue from even happening?

Are you still using the same video card drivers you had in Windows 7 or 8? Windows 10 needs new drivers. I wouldn't even try an "update" per se, I'd do a full uninstall/reinstall to leave no room for issues.
