So I found this old cable I'm trying to reuse. It seems to take 2 sata connections as data input, and on one end it connects to a slimline optical drive, and the other end connects to a normal hard drive. The only bit that I can't identify is this connector that seems to look almost like a fan connector but with 5 pins. I can only assume that it's what was delivering power to the optical and hard drive. I could really use help figuring out what it is.

I think the white connector is for older hard drives and acts as auxiliary power.

It was on one of my dad's power supplies and there was room for it on one of my old 2.5" IDE drives.

A bit obsolete by today's standards but works for older stuff!

Do you know the name of it so I can google it? I want to buy an adapter so that I can use molex or something to power this.

more power for the drive, not neccesary but if you have some old drive that dosent take SATA power it could come in handy, you can also probably connect some fans to it if you wanted to

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Well it is kinda necessary if I am gonna use this cable. It just has two sata data connectors as input, nothing else delivering power to the hard drive and slimline optical connectors.

The white one looks like an old (proprietary?) Molex sort of connector. The other is just a SATA data/power to Slimline SATA adapter. Nothing special.

yea, its the white thing I'm trying to figure out. I wanna find a converter from it to molex.
