Asus Xonar DSX problem

I got a sound card called the Asus Xonar DSX and the headphone jack seems to be faultly since sound only comes out of one headphone. I have disabled the HD audio in the bios then installed the driver. The port I used was AC97 (whats the difference from HD audio port?).

Is there a fix or am I going to have to send it back?

Why don't you just plug it straight into the back of the card?
