mod mic model question

i just received my sennheiser hd 598's and need a mic. i was looking into buying a mod mic 4.0 and see two options. there is an omni directional and a noise cancelling version. i am guessing the omnidirectional mic picks up noise everywhere and the noise cancelling does not?

Omnidirectional mics do pick up from every direction and are what is typically found on lavalier mics. You'll probably get more natural noise on the omni versus kinda squished tones on the NC version, and if your background is reasonably quiet you'll be able to get some decent NC on the omni as well.
