So I'm working on buying All my parts for my new pc but I'm nervous about my mono and got and gpu.. I'm going to be playing games and making lets plays vids. In the future I would love 2 gpu but for now just one is all I have money for.. I don't plan on overclocking since I'm still so new to building my own pc.. This is the rig I have set up http://pcpartpicker.com/user/shippogirl16/saved/rLHCmG

Z97 motherboard is not the best option for non K CPU and for non overclocking use. GPU is pretty nice but nVidia has this sexy shadowplay option to make your gameplay videos better (no need for additional software, frame drop is not noticeable. Buy windows 10 BOX if you can ;) don't know anything else. 4460 is nice CPU for gaming but if you want to edit videos, you will have to use GPU acceleration as rendering with it is.. Not bad but could be better.

Edit: Don't listen to me, R9 390 is so much cheaper and more powerful in some cases.

I need S340. But more Define S'ish

First off I want to say that the case choice is pretty bad...

Reasons: No USB 3.0 headers, compatible with almost no CPU coolers but the stock one, personally think it looks crappy, bad cable management....

So, anyhow, with what you have so far, I made a bunch of edits.

GTX 960 is sweet, but struggles with the newest titles.. And he wants to play games. For crossfire you can have any motherboard and R9 390 is great but GTX 960 is widely supported..

GTX 960 also has a higher clock rate by default. Which is good.

960 is a pretty good option, tho becoming outdated. She could save up for a little then replace with a 970. Or get the ONE, THE BEST, the 980 TI. Or just simply wait for Pascal. :/

Clock is nothing when it comes to GPUs, you know :P Can't overclock this damn card. Only 7% gain worked for me.. Oh, yeah, buy 980. Then just slam another 980 in and you are ready to go! Or buy 960 now and Pascal next.

Ehh the first thing you said is debatable. And I am saying to get rid of 960 after you save up then get the 980. I agree with the last thing you said though.

As for beginner "letsplayer" yes. then sell it or do something with it and buy Pascal. The ultimate solution. Only games that recommend 970 or higher are the newest like Rainbow Six, but will run on 960. You will be okay till Pascal launches.

I'm still unsure on what to get I got all the easy stuff but I'm not sure what I should get amd or intel

The parts you have listed are fine but not perfect. I would change a few things.

  • You do not need a z97 mobo. The main advantage of these is that you can overclock and the 4460 can't take advantage of this
  • Don't worry about going sli, the 390 will handle 1080p and gpu acceleration for editing
  • Go for higher end i5 or an i7 maybe even a fx8350 which is a streaming beast maybe skylake if you want to push your bed get a little. 6500 is good

I'm here to help people and have fun. Feel free to chat!

i5 6500

Asus Z170-AR

Saphhire Nitro 380X

 Hyper X Fury Black 16gb (2x8gb) 2133
