HARD DRIVE SWITCH.

just a quick question  I want to know if I can take my hard drive out of my year old computer and put it  in my new pc. if so whats the best way. (I know how to build computers and take them apart so swapping would be easy)

Are you going to use it as a boot drive? OEM installations dont like being swapped around.

yes it has windows 10 installed . and swapping to new mobo.

Did you upgrade to windows 10? If you did, it might deactivate itself. If it is a "native" windows 10 installation with a retail activation, should be no problem. Drivers might cause problems if you have different components.

See if it says oem on the key. If not, you're good to go.

Well, i had a Windows 10 installation on one of my test HDD's once, swapped MoBo, RAM and GPU and I only had to re-input my activation key... It might work, but I'm not quite sure...

alright its windows 8 upgraded to 10 my bad.(I have activation key and disk just checked) but I'm buying hard drive and new windows 10 to go in my old computer  for my girlfriend...

@SE7EN ZERO GAMING I forgot to add, it was an upgraded Windows 7 installation.
