Decent $1,000 Build?

PH-G7

Why does your case cost more than your processor? :/ look into money allocation man.

My ~$200 USD build:

AMD A8-7600    G. Skill Ripjaws Z @1800 CAS 8     EVGA 500w 80+ PSU    Gigabyte GAF2A68HM-DS2H Motherboard

Go with DDR4... You can upgrade later and won't have to spend so much money. Also, do you prefer AMD or Intel? Intel can be cheaper if you are willing to go for an i5.

You can't use DDR4 with an incompatible processor -_-

Would this be a decent build for around $1,000 (including peripherals and OS)?

I would suggest getting a better processor. Try a cheaper case and possibly a cheaper motherboard.

Try this:

Replaced the CPU with a AMD 6300 and chose a slightly cheaper board. The case is very similar to what you had, but around $10 cheaper.

I chose the fx 6300 just because I couldn't decide over i3, i5, or fx-6300. Any would do good really.

No the I3 and I5 are much better than any AMD processor for gaming

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

I know the i3 and i5 both beat the fx-6300. But that doesn't mean that the fx-6300 is obselete. You are right in the sense of performance, but for application they would all do good. The fx-6300 beats the i3 in Far Cry 4 any day sense an i3 won't even work in Far Cry 4. That's the main reason I put the fx-6300 there. It would definitely be favorable to throw it out of the build for an i5, I was just keeping price in mind since he might want a better graphics card.

If you were keeping the price in mind, why did you get a mbo which is as expensive as the cpu itself?

You are right it has been patched to work with i3s but still doesn't offer close to the same performance in 4 core demanding game than an i5. But I apoligize for being incorrect,
