pfSense 2.2.6 interfaces not found

I have a 3-4 year old 64 bit pc. I installed pfsense with a cd and I used the quick and easy install. I took out the disk booted into pfsense and it said welcome to pfSense 2.2.6 and then it stoped at
Default interfaces not found -- Running interface assignment option.

then it just sits there
I have a Intel EXPI9404PTL PRO 1000 PT Quad Port LP Gigabit PCIe 4-port IBM 39Y6138 nic install and if this is helpfully the green light that normal turns on when you plug in an Ethernet cord only turns on for the top port all the other lights on the other ports do not turn on.
is there a problem with my nic? I would appreciate any help you could give me some help. I am not a vary good network person but I am experienced with building computer and computer hardware. I attached an image of the screen that pfSense is displaying.

Test the network card on other computers too if it's really dead.
