I'm using a windows 10 pc, assembled. I've been using a netgear wifi adapter to access internet on the system. Lately a new firmware update came out for windows 10 and it was successfully installed, and ever since then the wifi icon isnt displaying any available networks and also internet gets disconnected within a few minutes after the startup, where in the wifi network has been working perfectly fine on my laptop at the same time.. How do i fix it??

I work computer repair and network setup, and we've had this problem a few times.  Make sure you restarted your computer (I had to say it).  Try deleting and reinstalling the drivers for the wireless connector.  If you know how go to ipconfig in the control panel and flush DNS.  You could also try deleting cookies in your browser history, though that rarely works.  If all that doesn't work I don't know what to say.  Maybe try the network connection software that came with the adapter.  If none of that wrks I have no clue what's going on, and I would suggest reimaging your computer.

There is a couple of things you should check, I would check to make sure your Chipset drivers are also up to date - secondly as Mattsoup had said, try deleting the network drivers for the adapter, but also make sure you delete the Driver Software when you do this, to avoid re-installing the same faulty driver set.

Also, if you can - try plug in a different wifi adapter to ensure you don't have a faulty one to begin with.

Lastly, if by chance you're running the manufacturers software on the machine, it may include their own Wifi Connectivity software, which overrules the Windows Wifi tool, if this happens it's possible that the Windows Wifi tool will not show any wireless networks - check to see if you have a NetGear wifi connectivity tool running.
