Best air cooler?

Thanks man I'll check those three out.

As far as the dark rock pro 3 vs the noctua NH-D15 by performs worse what exactly do you mean? how much worse? how in terms of performance compared to the evo i have now?

I read this as my source: https://www.techpowerup.com/mobile/reviews/Noctua/NH-D15/6.html

It's up against tons of coolers. They're really not that different, the Noctua pulling ahead only by a few °C. The bigger the thermal output, the farther apart they are, so consider that if you're going to OC hard on one of these coolers. Even the 212 EVO is on there.

Hey there! I've built a tx10 case and am looking to replace my 212 evo ( yes i know watercooling blah blah)

The problem with watercooling is its costs hundreds for a custom loop, or I'd have to ruin the top of the case ( already had to do that on one side) to fit an aio.

So i'm looking for the best air cooling solution.

Computer specs are

Case: TX10-D

Proccessor: i7-5820k or 5930k

 MotherBoard: Asus x99 deluxe usb3.1

Ram: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (DDR4-2400)

 GPU: Asus Strix OC 980ti

Storage: 850pro 500gb, 850pro 500gb, 850pro 256gb, WD black 16tb total, Silicon Power S60 120GB   PSU: Seasonic snow silent 1050

I'd like something not like a rocket engine aswell, the cooler I have now is just way to noisy.

TX10 Build Log: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/456229-tx10-build-log/

air cooling can be almost as expensive as liquid cooling aio's matey.

The "Best" would be a tough category.

Best in general goes to the Noctua NH-D15, Cryorig R1, and Phanteks TC14PE. They all perform almost identically in cooling and acoustics, with the noctua taking the edge slightly in noise.

The "Best" in terms of sheer cooling would be the Reeven Okeanos, its loud, bulky, but the best cooling tower cooler out there.

For basically *silent* operation, the Be Quiet Dark Rock pro 3 is straight up the quietest there, period. It doesn't cool quiet as well as the others, but is silent doing it.

Thank you I'll be sure to look into those :).

As I said The cost of AIO's dont bother me, its that I'd have to cut the top of my case again (check my build log if you wanna see what I mean)

The best performing cooler is the Noctua NH-D15. It's extremely quiet too, but it won't match if you're serious about color. If you want a good looking, good performing cooler, I'd recommend the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3. All-black, quieter than the Noctua, but also performs a bit worse.

There is also the Phanteks TC14PE. (I think that's what it's called.) You can get it in many different colors, and it performs near the Be Quiet! cooler. It's the loudest (while quieter than the 212 EVO,) and it's also the cheapest.

Ok thanks man! Definitely gonna read up on that.

One last question, Would I be able to mount corsair dominator plat ram with these coolers?

Dominator Platinum? If that's the tall stuff, then there will be compatibility issues with the Dark Rock Pro 3. The Noctua's fan can be positioned higher to try to keep it on, worst case scenario you have to remove the fan entirely.

The Noctua's heat sink has some of the fins cut short on the side where RAM will be, and that's for compatibility. The Dark Rock Pro 3 does not have that. Keep that in mind when you're purchasing them. If you don't already own the Dominator Platinum, consider getting shorter RAM.
