Hi,

After watching nearly all of Linus online movies,

I thought it would be time to ask for some advise instead of dreaming of that Titan X/Z.

My current specs:

Home build Rig

1x Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit)

1x USUTech Rampage Extreme 1 // https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_EXTREME/

1x HD4870 Sapphire vapor-x // cpuZ and gpuZ show 2GDDR5 (but is this true?) // http://www.sapphiretech.com/productdetial.asp?pid=4631B197-278E-473D-83BA-35B6B74B295A&lang=eng

1x Intel Q9400 // quadcore @ 2.66Mhz // http://ark.intel.com/nl/products/35365/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q9400-6M-Cache-2_66-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB

4x Kingston 2GB PC3-10700 1333Mhz 2x Dual-channel // Cpuz show 667Mhz

1x MS-Tech 950 Watt  http://www.ms-tech.de/eng/index.php/product/detail/pdcid/74/pdid/337

1x Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB

1x WesternDigital Black Kevlar 1TB

1x 3TB HD

1x CPU sink / vin cooler // non-fans // idle temp. 43 Celsius //

1x CMSTORM case http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/cases/scout2advanced/

1x ASUS VG248QE 24" // 144HZ 1ms (GTG) response https://www.asus.com/nl/Monitors/VG248QE/

Resolution 1080P

Before this screen I used to had a 1080p BenQ 60Hz screen. After it broke I bought the next best thing I could afford.

Not realizing that 100fps won't fill up those 144Hz.

At the moment I'm playing less GPU demanding but highly competitive games such as CS:GO and Starcraft 2 around 100FPS on high settings. But as soon as I start a more demanding game with higher graphics and more textures it shows a great decrease in FPS. In some cases just crashes the GPU driver.

I wish to play the competitive games on high / ultra settings around 150+FPS

and new generation (more demanding) games on medium / high settings around 60+FPS

At the moment my budget is very limited. So before spending a single fbuck.

Will buying a new GPU like the EVGA GTX 950 give me the performance upgrade I need?

Or will it get bottle-necked by the CPU. Or do you recommend an other GPU around the 150-200€ budget.

Is my system overall anyway suitable for this achievement?

Are there any other improvements possible to become As Fast As Possible without Minecraft skins! :D

Thank you for your time,

Go for a 950 I guess. Anything above that would be wasting money

That's not 950W, it's 700W at max. Look at +12V rails. It's also cheap and probably poor quality on the inside. I'd say a 950 and don't push it.

I know. I am telling you what you should know from the datasheets :)

@Otomaru that is irrelevant. 950 is not classified under that video.

I admit I´m not familiar with that GPU but it´s still low end from the newest lineup and the general idea of video still applies. Check used cards, check price to performance ratio (there are statistics on that in the world wide web). Don´t go for the newest you can afford, go for the best you can afford. Amazon has great deals sometimes.

okok thanks for the replies. but nobody noticed my MOBO doesn't support USB3.0 and my case does got 2 prefixed usb3 hubs..

if the PSU is 700Watt instead of 950, that is almost the double of minimal recommendation so it should be all right for a single gpu system.

His CPU will be his limiting factor. Since he's on a tight budget, he won't really gain much from buying a used 7950 over a 950 considering the CPU will hold him back.

That video only applies to low-end cards. The 950 is entry-level. It along with the 270X are the current minimum

A 950 should be fine but I wouldn't go higher. Cheapo PSUs can rarely output the rated wattage.

What exactly is your budget? Do you have enough for a better cpu and gpu? That cpu will be a bottleneck for the better low end cards. Like the gtx 950. I own 2 EVGA GTX 950s FTW editions in sli and yes before the rants a single gpu is better, which is true and I'm not saying buy 2. I only got 2 for the looks and I compete pretty much head to head with my friends EVGA GTX 970 FTW+. I ran 1 for a week and it did better than I expected. I would recommend a 950. Either a good Gigabyte or Evga.

950 is your best options in my opinion. You can't really do much more with the hardware you have currently.

CPU: AMD 5950X    MB: Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero    RAM: HyperX Predator 64GB    GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti FE    SSD: Seagate FireCuda 530 2TB
PSU: EVGA 1200w P2    COOLING: EK AIO Elite 360    CASE: Fractal Design Torrent
DISPLAY: LG CX48 4k OLED    AUDIO: HIFIMAN Arya SE
