Can someone explain what I'm seeing here, one minute i'm happily running dual channel 8GB setup and then I get a PC freeze and suddenly it won't use the 2nd slot.

Yet it's totally detected in Bios and CPU-z

Is the board fried or is there something im missing?

As per the BIOS it seems that you don't have any other slots to test them.

And as much as I understand, even if you switch mem sticks , it will yet lose detection to the 2nd slot.

As per that, If I were you I would try a BIOS reset/Upgrade , other than that, "so long mobo"

Ohh, I almost forgot, test your memory using memtest86

Insert then remove the ram stick multiple times to clean contacts. If nothing changes, then visually check PCB components and lanes from RAM on both motherboard sides. If all lanes are visually in tact and there are no dark spots or bubbles on the PCB it could be CPU.

Must be Mobo right?

Not that simple. It´s a chain with multiple links that can give in, some more likely than others, not all on motherboard or even hardware.

Make sure that motherboard and CPU support what you have, make sure both dims are healthy, reset BIOS, sometimes contacts corrode and need to be cleaned, sometimes a PCB lane burns and restoring the link solves it, sometimes power management or part of it on motherboard is burnt (condensator, inductor, resistor, diode, voltage stabilizer), a part of CPU can short out and continue working on with disabled features.

That´s about all i could think of. I personally have "fixed" faulty slots by cleaning them and by soldering a burnt lane.

Well it was reading and running fine with 8192 ram a few days ago so it definitely can support the memory + apu combo.

I've reset, reflashed bios about 7 or 8 times now.

It might be that one of the links or something burnt but honestly at this point picking up a new mobo on the cheap next week seems the likely fix. I wish there was a better way to do this and not have to replace anything but I don't see another way unless there is a mystery bios setting that magically fixes everything im at a loss.
