It's a *bit* extreme :D, but if it works it works.  Maybe get rid of the Seagate drive.

What's wrong with the Seagate drive? Just curious.

Are you video editing professionally?

Seagate is currently about to be sued over their drive reliability

I changed some things, added a motherboard with USB 3.1 support which you should be getting, and I added a 4k IPS free-sync display, way better than a 21:9 1080p display, especially in terms of vertical pixels, although a 32" display would be better, also added a larger cooler for just a bit more, and you really should spend less on those peripherals and get a larger SSD

the 980ti would be faster yes once OC'd, but there's no reason not to include either a 4k display or free-sync display in that budget, as you don't have to spend much extra for free-sync compared to G-sync. and at 4k the difference isn't going to be too much between the 2.

Thank you, but for video editing wouldn't it be better to have a quad channel kit instead of dual channel in this case? Also I noticed that motherboard wasn't that great after I posted this and quickly changed it to an MSI board with USB 3.1. I know the Fury is a good card as I've wanted one myself, but will the be any performance decrease in getting the Fury over a 980ti? And thanks for finding that PSU in Australia.. Like seriously when I looked at the site it didn't list a single EVGA PSU available and that's what I wanted to go with. With a build like this shouldn't it have a Gold Rated PSU? I understand the Bronze is a good unit but I feel like the efficiency for a build like this should be higher...

As for the peripherals I wanted him to at least have a good headset for audio I chose the mouse and keyboard because I didnt really see anything cheaperthat would be as productive IMO on the Australia pcpartpicker.

The monitor I do appreciate as this guy will be doing professional editing.

I was unaware Seagate was being sued for that... I have two Seagates drives in my system and they act as my games storage drives while the Western Digital Blue's I have are used for media storage. I've had terrible luck with Western Digital though and great luck with Seagate.

It's better to have larger sticks of RAM so you can upgrade if needed, dual channel vs quad really isn't going to matter much if any.

the 980ti is faster than the fury, hence why it costs more, but the display I included has free-sync, so gameplay is going to be smoother on it. If you went nvidia and wanted to go for an equivalent adaptive sync display with G-sync, they start at $900

Headphones's a little much though, if he's doing more professional stuff you'd want studio monitors, as they're better for sound editing, also some alternatives, also you don't have a microphone, maybe look for a mod mic or USB microphone

This system won't be used for any gaming at all, if it is used for it won't be much. So is it still worth it to includde a freesync monitor? There really want be room for studio monitors as it's going to be in a camper in the Outback and a microphone wasn't included in the parts he needed that's why one wasn't included.

Musta missed the non gaming part, but then why is there a 980ti in the build?

If they aren't gaming then just put the money towards a 4k display and a workstation GPU rather than a high end gaming GPU for pure video editing.

W4100 Firepro $400 it's the only workstation GPU I saw available, might be quadros but those are expensive usually.

And are you sure he's never going to need to do like a video call or something with a microphone?

What workstation GPU would you recommend? And honestly I'm not sure I just know the list he gave me. He said he needed Headphones, mouse, keyboard, monitor, and a wireless adapter.

I put the 980ti in the build because I thought it would be a good option for video editing. I'll find out more information when he wakes up tonight on if he's actually going to do any kind of gaming.

I updated it, at least on the PC part picked the W4100 is the only choice, and I do mean quiet literally that it's the only choice

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/parts/video-card/#c=195,128,129,108,191,190,140,188,192,196,207,194,189,199,202,213,97,89,210,87,96,85,222,177,178,216,184,212,218,217,211,219,209,155,220,352,358,223,215,91,95&sort=a8&page=1

These are about the best more budget oriented studio headphones

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/49510-REG/Sony_MDR_7506_MDR_7506_Headphone.html

But here's a list of em

http://ehomerecordingstudio.com/best-recording-studio-headphones/

Also you might want to allocate some budget for an external DAC to clean up any audio interference from the PC to the headphones, no idea on DAC availability over there, lots of people seem to like the O2 if it's available
