Need Help! (WiFi)

Hey, So I just built my new pc with an ASUS N10 wlan adaptor and 

get reeeally slow speeds when downloading things on steam. My laptops downloads 

at 3mbs and this peaks at 1.5mbs. Any idea on how to fix this?

What model router do you have? How far away is your computer to the router compared to your laptop? I also noticed that the ASUS N10 is a tiny little wifi chip, could not be getting adequate signal

The computer isn't far I get full connection strength. I think it might just be the chip because after a while of downloading on steam it gives up and my desktops wifi stops working.
