So I've got this old Dell precision 380

So I've got this old Dell precision 380 and obviously I would like to build on it. I've been wanting to build a gaming pc as oppose to continuously buying "gaming" pc's. I've already picked out a compatible cpu and ram, just not sure what to do next. I would like to buy a graphics card but not really sure what type to pick out, and I'm not really sure what else (besides power supply) I should be looking into. I suppose what I'm asking is: anybody has any helpful tips or recommendations? Your input is greatly appreciated.
