So im looking to upgrade my Toshiba 150-C latop with a new Hard Drive & CPU. I picked out the CPU that has the same socket and just ordered it. But When I looked inside the latop there was a heat sink that was attached to the cpu and to like the backside of the fan. Im not for certain but when I unscrewed the screws and tried pulling it up it didnt seem like the part of the heat sink thats behind the fan was gonna pop up and when I looked at the cpu it look like a rectange and not a sqaure. I have expierence with desktop cpu's but not latop cpu's help pls!

Laptop CPUs are BGA. They are usually soldered into the socket on the motherboard of the laptop. Desktop CPUs are usually LGA/PGA.

Really depends on the laptop. Can you clarify the specific model of your laptop. 150-c returned a lot of weird results.

Its a C55-C5379

Looks like that model uses a Broadwell chip, meaning it's BGA (soldered).

As for the concern over the rectangle shape, mobile CPUs tend not to have heat spreaders. The actual chip is always a rectangle nowadays, looks the same under the metal block on desktop CPUs.
