Help with Hackintosh

Hello all! I just have a few questions about turning my current custom PC into a Hackintosh. Question 1- Does GPU matter? I have a GTX 970 Strix atm and I really don't want to buy a different one now because that would almost be the cost of a Mac mini because I want to buy another 500gb ssd just for OS X. Question 2- I have a MSI Gaming 5 motherboard. It is on the list of compatable ones according to TonyMacX86 but I heard gigabyte was really compatable. Also I don't want to deal with digging in my PC and replacing a motherboard. Should I deal with it and replace it? Will it be too annoying to bother?

so i am pretty sure a 970 wont work my vote is to not bother with it just going to give you a lot more trouble than you really need but if you want to continue heres a website that details everything and should say if a 970 and your motherboard are compatible http://www.hackintosh.com/

Project Iridium:   CPU: Intel 4820K   CPU Cooler: Custom Loop  Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition   RAM: Avexir Blitz  Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD and Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD   GPU: Asus 780 6GB Strix   Case: IN WIN 909   PSU: Corsair RM1000      Project Iridium build log http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/451088-project-iridium-build-log/

My 980 works....so I don't see why a 970 wouldn't...

Last time I checked TonyMacX86...they listed both 980 and 970 as a compatible parts for OS X.

Only thing the OP has to do is install the web drivers for the GPU.
