Password Reset Program

Can someone please recommend a good windows 8 password reset program that runs from USB. This laptop i got used does not have a CD/DVD drive.

It not that I am of no help its just this is an outstanding TECH community with something called a reputation.  If its members started aiding in and condoning illegal activities then that reputation could possibly be tarnished. I'm sorry I was of little help to you but have a great day.

You can always install Win8 again and then upgrade to Win10. You can also use bootable linux to backup any important data from HDD. Win8 and newer laptops save cdkey to BIOS so you don't even need to know that. Its activated on reinstall. Or recovery if you want all drivers preinstalled.

Does the Safe Mode > Sign in as Admin > Reset password trick not work anymore with Windows 8? Also, what model laptop? Some have pre-boot back up partition that you might be able to reinstall from.

I respect your point, but I think it is a bit harsh. I know lots of users who forget sign in password, specially if it's for a account they don't use. I assume the seller delete their main profile for privacy reasons. Also, if you buy something from Ebay or something, sometimes they are just reselling from some one else. Finding the original owner can be tricky. Finally, people give me old used laptops all the time. Mostly for trade for IT work I might do for them. I think OP has warrant and I don't feel any shady vibes coming off it. JMHO.
