Stereo head unit display issue

Hello, a couple days ago my stereo head unit display started acting up. Whenever I start up my 1996 Maxima the display on the radio head unit comes on and works fine, but after a couple of minutes it goes completely black. It has no effect on the radio except that I can't see what station I'm listening to, I can still use all of my presets and all the buttons work fine. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue?

My bet would be a dead head unit, in fairness it is 20 years old. If it something really rare, and you wanted to preserve the look of the dash, it could almost certainly be repaired. Probably best just to hit ebay.
