[Fixed/Resolved] Port Fowarding Issue

Go to solution Solved by zMeul,

put your PC's IP on the DMZ list and make sure DMZ service on the router is running - this is not ideal since all external request will be forwarded to that particular PC unless they are additional rules set

I have successfully port forward before with different router, and it worked perfectly.

Now I have different router, that is different from the older one I used. And I already have port forwarded properly, being 2302, I think...

And when I used PFPortChecker (a locally installed program), it says that my port, 2302, is open, but when use http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/, it says that the port is closed. My guess is that my router is blocking the outside world from connecting from connecting to my PC. I've been trying to get my friends to connect to my ArmA 3 server that I hosted in my PC. It's the same for any other game.

My router is called 'Prolink H5004N', and here is a guide that I followed, but doesn't still work: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Prolink/H5004N/Arma_3.htm

Anything that I might have missed that is giving the issue?

Edit:

Also, I'm not that too familiar with port forwarding, I only knew a little enough to get a server up and running.

Edit:

Also, I can't seem to find the firewall configurations.

Edit:

Issue is resolved and fixed!

Can you post a screenshot of your router's interface where it shows the port forwarding rule for port 2302?

Looks like you have three rules in your table but they are all disabled

I actually tried to port forward, but they didn't work. So I had them disabled to avoid any issues, since they didn't work anyways.

Looks like it worked! I was able to let a friend join a server that I hosted. This was just the missing piece.

Turning on DMZ means the router / modem will give you no protection from the outside world.

It's a risky move. One I wouldn't take.

What do you mean risky? How does that work?

I did some research and I can see why it's not safe. So I will only enable DMZ when I host a server for friends to play and not 24/7. Thanks for giving a heads up!

According to this page, you need to port forward more than just a single port for that game. You should be able to figure out which ones based on the replies there
