  1. 1. Which one is better in performance, overclocking capability, power consumption, more silence???

    • MSI Radeon R9 390X 8GB GDDR5 1.05 GHz
      6
    • MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 1.10 GHz
      1

well the 390x uses more power.. but its a much higher performance card and will play games better than a 970.

in a head to head graphics test the 390X would win, without a doubt.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

yeah it costs a little bit more but still you could go with the r9 390 it is 2-3 fps worse, but you get $100 off

keep in mind he said a 390X, which is not a 390.

but even a 390 would be the better choice. the 390 is the direct competition to the 970 but is definitely the better choice. a 390x is mid-way between a 970 and 980.

That poll is impossible to answer because you've asked a conflicting question.  It's like asking "which is faster and heavier, a semi truck or a Ferrari?"

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

What do you mean which is faster? Obviously a Ferrari would win in most cases, it depends on the terrain. I do understand what you are implying :D

Yeah, my point is that you can't answer because the cone that's faster is lighter, and vise versa.  Just like the poll; the one with more power consumption is going to put off more heat and thus more noise (less silence). Just one possible example of how it doesn't work :)

Ahhh true! Power consumption will conflict the possibilities of more noise and heat! Thanks for the help, really appreciated!!!
