Using Laptop Hdd to Pc

I have one question,will my laptop harddrive work on my pc without reformatting it?

If you just plug it in while your PC is on, it should show all the files that were still in your HDD. If you plug it in and turn on your PC, Windows may think the drive is faulty or some shit and mess up everything. Best way is still to format, then plug it in.
