Now I've been having this problem with Skyrim ever since I started playing it on this computer. Below is a full briefing of what exactly happens pertaining to the crashes.

What happens:

  • It crashes to my desktop after about 30-60 seconds of very smooth gameplay
  • It has no error message
  • It sometimes crashes my entire PC with a BSOD that normally shouts out some random drivers (seems to be audio drivers maybe?)

What I've done to solve this:

  • I've increased my computer's vRAM from 1gb to 2gb
  • I've updated my video drivers multiple times
  • I've installed mods to increase the allocation of vRAM to Skyrim
  • I've deleted all of my %temp% and temp files
  • I've changed the game settings down to the lowest settings and tried disabling all DLC
  • I've reverted back to different Skyrim updates and I've reinstalled multiple times

Info about my Skyrim version:

  • I have the latest version (and I have tried other versions as well)
  • I have all DLC and the official high res packs (I have tried disabling all of these)
  • I have no mods

Info about my PC:

  • I have an AMD A8-7600 APU
  • I have updated all of my video drivers
  • I don't have these issues with any other games (except I get the exact same issue with Fallout 4 as well, but I don't really expect Fallout 4 to run on my PC anyways)
  • Everything is stable

If anyone can help me that would be highly appreciated.

My ~$200 USD build:

AMD A8-7600    G. Skill Ripjaws Z @1800 CAS 8     EVGA 500w 80+ PSU    Gigabyte GAF2A68HM-DS2H Motherboard

This is particularly perplexing. It sounds as if the engine used for Skyrim / Fallout 4 is what causes the issue(s). Normally I'd suggest a re-install, but since you have, and it's across two different games, I'm inclined to say this won't help. Have you tried downgrading your GPU drivers to an earlier version? Also, have you checked your GPU Control Panel for any settings that could potentially conflict with the Creation Engine?

I just checked, and it doesn't even realize that Skyrim is a game, which I'm not sure if that would be a problem or if it would be a good thing. In addition to checking my GPU control panel I disabled all of my custom settings, just in case they were conflicting with the engine. I'm also updating my audio drivers right now to see if that was the problem, since it was spitting out audio driver names in the BSOD. After this I will restart my computer and see if Skyrim is stable.

I know that Skyrim had some issues with audio, wherein if your device was set to 48khz, it would crackle and distort. It wouldn't be surprising if that's why your game(s) isn't working. Report back your results!

Have you tried setting your bios to default settings to see if it's not that 1433MHz iGPU OC that's causeing it? I know you said it's "stable" but just try it and see if that makes the game stable or not.

I tried underclocking it all the way down to the stock clock speed. So no that's sadly not the issue :_;
