Advice on upgrading CPU & GPU

Go to solution Solved by Jacktastic-Mofo,

Literally swap everything out and you'll be fine. You'll already have all the needed drivers.

First time posting on here so bare with me if there is any etiquette I have missed.

I am thinking about upgrading the CPU & GPU in my desktop PC I built in Jan 2015, since it is my first build I have no experience in upgrading it.

I'm currently thinking of changing my CPU to an Intel core i5 4460 and GPU to an R9 390, I am wondering about the steps I will need to take to install the new hardware.

- Is it just plug in and go or do I have to/should I reinstall OS, reset BIOS, manually install drivers? Basically I am trying to figure out roughly how much time I should allow myself to do it and what steps I need to take.

- Does this upgrade seem reasonable, any better choices/something else I should be upgrading? Main use is gaming.

Currently running:

- Windows 10

- MSI H97 - G43 Motherboard

- Intel Pentium g3258 anniversary edition CPU (Overclocked to 4.1GHz)

- ASUS Radeon R7 260X DirectCU II OC

- 8GB DDR3 Ram

- Antec 500W PSU

Thanks,

HanumanC

Thanks for the quick reply, this is what I was hoping for.

No problemo! Just make sure to mark as solved.
