- So ever sense @LinusTech told us that he was going to put his and his wife's rig in a server case in another room connected via a fiber optic Thunderbolt cable i have been extremely interested in this... and he has updated us with random tidbits of info and videos... but he has never really told us how this whole set up is going to work... and I'm really hoping that he does an in-depth video about how this is all going to work.

- Specifically the 'Thunderbolt docks'... do you need two? One to plug your PC into and a second for the monitor? Or one for the monitor and then use the Thunderbolt connector on the PCs mobo / PCIe Thunderbolt AIC (will the GPU video-out go threw the on-board Thunderbolt connector?)

- Also (less important / just curious) is he going to be doing this with what ever other PCs he has in his house i.e. I'm assuming he has a HTPC... also... i can't wait to see the final video when he has an entire server rack filled up... in his house... for personal use...

- I'm thinking about doing something like this too... which is why I'm so interested (on a much much smaller scale) just my one gaming rig in the case it is already in... and just move it one room over that way i can get the shortest (cheapest) cable (the 5.5m $180 cable).

just to add... i've try'd researching this online already... and its not that common of a thing... do to the fact that its so expensive to implement... and there for there is not that much information out there... and i don't think that this is what the guys at Corning had in mind when they designed this either because all the information on there web site has nothing to do with this...

- linus's setup is a pci-e thunderbolt card that can pass through a displayport connection from the gpu, going into a thunderbolt dock with the usual usb, audio, and display outputs.

- last i've seen from his htpc is that he put it in a torture chamber (small clouset) with noctua fans.

- if you need to worr about "the cheapest cable" i dont think this is for you, and rather suggest investing in longer display and peripheral cables.

what? when did he say he was using a PCIe add in card...?

and as far as worrying about the cheapest cable... i was thinking about putting another desk on the other side of the wall where my PC is now... and drilling a couple holes in the wall and just running all my cables from my PC threw the holes in the wall...

one of the advantages of having autism: you see the little details like that, and immediately link them to the use of it.
