Get a r9 390 instead of a GTX 970. who doesn't love 8gb of Vram :P

Nope, you are getting an unlocked i7 with a locked motherboard.

I don't think that motherboard has MSata anyway.

What is the PSU? there is a lot of models of EVGA Supernovas.

I thought the Evga Supernova 750 was already a model... Sorry this is my first time and im an amatuer but this is the PSU i was talking about..

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438017

Also i dont really plan on overclocking it. Also what is mSata? I know sata speed is the speed of files moving WITHIN a HDD not from HDD to another HDD

Georgekellow

Haha i would but im not very fammilar with Radeon graphics cards and such so im a bit wary.

If you are using this pc purely for gaming, get an i5 4690k, as the i5 is an excellent cpu for gaming and the i7 is more for editing. If you are getting an overclocked processor, get a " Z " series unlocked motherboard that supports overclocking. You can only overclock if both your cpu and motherboard is unlocked. As for the gpu, get an r9 390, as its around the same price point as the 970 but generally performs better.

i5 4690k | MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G | Swiftech H240-X | MSI Z97s SLI Krait Edition | Corsair Vengeance Pro 8gb ( 2x4gb ) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 850EVO 250gb SSD & WD Caviar Blue 1tb HDD | Fractal Design Define R5

That is a very good powersupply, but 750W is overkill for a single GPU, but if you are going to SLI or Crossfire, it will be fine.

The R9 390 is the card that costs about the same as a GTX 970, it preforms a bit better and costs about the same.

Ah yes people have told me about i5= gaming i7= editing

But i do plan on making videos and editing (mainly videos) and possibly some photoshop as well but yeah.

Also having an i7 wont affect my gaming experience right? It just adds on to an i5 with editing and stuff

No, since the i7 is more powerful than the i5. It may improve game performance a little.

i think this will be a good build. since u can now overclock with an unlocked CPU, i think choosing a z170 motherboard would be good. Also, this msi mohterboard has a promotion right now, (FREE RAINBOW SIX SIEGE GAME) so, it would be a good grab!

as for the cooler, since you will be editing, i think it is wise to choose an aio water cooler. if it is out of your budget, feel free to change it to any wind cooler.

as for the storage, i think you will be needing a 2TB hard drive. but if you think you dont need it, then just change it to 1TB.

if you could let me know what is your budget on $$$, maybe i can work out a better list for you :)

The 3.4GHz is plenty of speed for gaming.  The beauty of the Skylake CPU is that it will overclock if you ever find that you need more speed.  I see no reason that it would not easily match the 4GHz of the 4790K provided you have the means to cool it.

I am still running my i5 3570K at stock (3.3GHz).  I am comfortable with overclocking and have aftermarket cooling.  I have watched videos on my particular CPU and read through data sheets for OC'ing on it.  I just don't need the speed.

The locked Haswell i7 does not like to be overclocked using the FSB/BCLK.  I might be wrong, but it might be partly due to the voltage regulator embedded into the Haswell CPU.  Skylake moved the VRM back onto the motherboard and BAM, everyone has the option of BCLK overclocking again.  <<Speculation as to why on my part.  I have not really looked into it.

Haswell or Skylake, you will be happy.  Ultimately it is up to you.

That's $1159 without a CPU or power supply.  CPU $450 + PSU $100 (for something decent), so you are at $1700.

$1756, but you can get it under $1700 if you are sure you will never overclock.  Change the Z-Series board to an H-Series board, that saves around $70.

The 750W PSU was picked because it is a good unit at the best price.  There is no cheaper, unless you get a lower quality unit.

Wait what do u mean by lower quality u mean lower watts it generates? also what shud i do about the motherboard since i dont want too overclock

Quality relates to the internal components used.  EVGA does not make their power supplies, neither does Corsair.  Companies like Seasonic, Superflower, CWT, FSP, etc... make the untis and give them to other companies to brand them.  Seasonic is known for making good-to-great quality units, Superflower as well.  FSP, CWT, and others make some good units, but make some bad units as well.

Wait what would be better the H197 gaming 3 or the Motherboard you proposed cos it says thats its a mini ATX motherboard so would that affect my PC also it seems suspiciosly cheap

sorry if i sound stupid

also with the RAM is there any difference?

There is no H197 board.  There is the H170(Skylake) and the H97(Haswell and Haswell Refresh).

Mini ITX is a small form factor motherboard.  It is especially tiny to fit especially tiny cases.  There would be no core performance difference between the H110 and the H170 (mITX).

I am helping you so you can get the best parts for the money you spend.  It is not cheap in any way, just well picked.

Depending on the application faster RAM will increase performance.  If the price is the same, always get faster RAM.
