Wiping hard drive

I need to wipe a hard drive but because it has windows installed on a partition, i know i need to boot from a 3rd party OS to wipe it proper. What OS/program do you use?

I just use the normal formatting software that comes with Windows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Depending on the size of the drive, the speed it runs at and the wiping method you use, it can take from a few hours to a few days.
