Having problems forwarding ports on Ethernet

I have previously been on  wireless internet connection and have had no problem forwarding ports in the past, but today I ran Ethernet up into my room and I cannot connect to my Team Speak server which I assume is due to the ports not forwarding correctly. I have changed the port to forward to my new IP which was obtained when I connected to the Ethernet. I have a feeling that the problem is to do with the fact that I run Cat6e from the modem into a Gigabit Switch then out of that switch comes another Ethernet cable which plugs into my computer which is hosting the server.

Does anyone know of any reason as to why this isn't working. I have tried a bunch of things; restarts, forcing the computer to use a specific static IP address, nothing seems to be working.

Any help is always appreciated :)

[EDIT] - For some reason it just took a long time before something kicked in and it started working... seemed odd but oh well :P
