windows installer will detect any drives installed formated or not and will allow you to take a blank drive and automatically create all the partitions when you select the drive and hit new

 

i suggest only having the target drive connected to avoid erasing any info on any other drives by accident.

I plan on putting the ssd in my laptop so its the only the drive.

That's fine. Install the SSD and when you boot up the Windows installation, go to custom installation. It will detect your SSD. From there you'll be able to format it and you'll be good to go.

I knew I should of selected custom installation, I already tried swapping them and I clicked regular install
