If HDD fails do files on Google Drive get affected?

Google Drive shouldn't be affected

unless you manage to corrupt the files without NTFS catching that and you sync them to Google Drive

The sync folder is on my HDD. Say it fails, what happens to the files on Google Drive? Do they get deleted or they stay there?

I suppose that drive failure is treated same as shutting down so the files remain on google drive. However, I'm not sure.
